Blue

Blue are a UK duo that emerged in the 90s and were signed to the late great Andrew Weatherall's cult labels Sabres of Paradise and Emissions Audio Output. They made a triumphant return after an 18 year hiatus to drop a double album of archive material in 2021, and here mint the newly launched Apricity Records. 'European Heart' is a sound design to slow heart and mind with whimsical chords floating out of reverb-rich hits and deeply buried dub rhythms. 'Hardlanding' has a more underwater and cavernous dub feel, then 'Down We Go' introduces a little tension with more sustained chords and textured drum breaks before 'The Balancing Point' shuts down with hang drums and icy synths creating subtle unease.
